What is a medication cart?
A medication cart, or med cart, is a locking mobile cart that holds medications for the med pass. It is chosen by the pharmacy’s packaging: Capsa builds its carts for punch cards, auto-packaging, multi-dose cards or bin cassettes (brochure C-489).
What accessories are available for medication trolleys?
For Avalo medication carts, Capsa lists drawer dividers, a punch card tub, an organizer tray, VersaBin, a sharps container, waste with lid, a glove box, a double-wide narcotic box and a laptop arm and tray, among others (brochure C-489). M-Series and Vintage Encore have their own lists: each cart page gives the accessories for that model.
How to organize a medication cart?
Start from your pharmacy’s packaging and your facility’s procedure. Capsa sizes an auto-packaging cart from the average medications per resident, the cycle length and your distribution model, restock or exchange. On M-Series and Vintage Encore auto-packaging carts, drawers take a Stor-Flex, Drawer Flex or fixed divider system, with dividers and labels available.
