A shower chair that works at the caregiver’s height

  • TR Equipment TR 1000 electric shower chair

Two lifting columns move the seat over 400 mm (15.7 in), and a tilt actuator angles it 25° back or 7° forward. The caregiver sets both from the hand control.

  • A caregiver at the bedside of a patient in a hospital room

Lower the chair, brake the castors, tilt it forward and raise the armrest on the transfer side. The resident moves across from the wheelchair, side by side.

  • A bright corridor in a long-term care home

TR Equipment lists showering, toileting over floor- or wall-mounted toilets, and pedicure among its uses. A bedpan with lid is available as an option.

Features of this shower chair

  • Electric height adjustment

The seat moves from 535 to 935 mm (21.1 to 36.8 in) above the floor, so the caregiver works at a comfortable height.

  • Tilt back and forward

Tilting back 25° helps with showering; tilting forward 7° helps the resident on and off the chair.

  • Removable battery

A 24 V, 4 Ah Li-ion battery comes off for charging. A wall bracket for the battery pack is offered as an option.

  • Emergency stop and safety belt

A red button stops the columns and the tilt at once. A hip belt and two foldable armrests come with the chair; a chest belt is an option.

  • Bedpan with lid (option)

Instead of going over the toilet, a bedpan with lid attaches under the seat. Fit it before the resident sits down.

Questions about the TR 1000

What is the difference between a shower chair and a commode chair?

A shower chair is made to get wet; a commode chair is made for toileting, over the toilet or with a pan. The TR 1000 does both: TR Equipment describes it as a shower chair that also serves as a hygiene and mobile commode chair. It goes over floor- or wall-mounted toilets, or takes a bedpan with lid (option).

How is a resident moved from a wheelchair onto the TR 1000?

TR Equipment’s steps: lower the chair to its lowest position, brake all four castors, tilt it forward with the hand control and raise the armrest on the transfer side. Place the wheelchair side by side with the chair and support the resident during the move. Fasten the safety belt, then lower the armrest.

How is the TR 1000 cleaned?

Clean it after use with a mild, slightly alkaline detergent without solvents, using a towel, sponge or soft brush. TR Equipment excludes iodine-based disinfectants and water above 45 °C (113 °F). Wipe the chair dry and keep it away from sunlight and heaters. The chair is rated IPX5.

How often does the TR 1000 battery need charging?

TR Equipment recommends charging the 24 V Li-ion battery daily, or whenever the chair is not in use; it cannot be overcharged. If the chair is used only now and then, charge it after each use for at least 24 hours. In storage, charge it at least once a month.

How much does the TR 1000 cost?

The price depends on the model (TR 1000 or the wider TR 1000-W), the armrests and the options, such as the footrest or the bedpan. Request a quote and a representative replies within two business days.
