A shower chair the person can move

  • Rebotec Miami self-propelling shower commode chair

Two 24 in rear wheels with push rims let the seated person move the chair. Two 5 in castors at the front do the steering.

  • A caregiver walking beside a patient in a rehabilitation centre

Rebotec designs the Miami for users with enough sitting ability and upper-body strength. A caregiver stays present when the person’s condition requires it.

  • A bright corridor in a long-term care home

The seat has a hygiene opening and a toilet seat that flips up. A bucket with lid slides in from the back when the toilet cannot be reached.

Features of this shower commode chair

  • Self-propelling

The 24 in rear wheels have push rims and a parking brake on each side. Brake both wheels before the person sits down or stands up.

  • Swing-away armrests

Pull the locking pin and the armrest swings back, clearing the side for a transfer from the bed or a wheelchair.

  • Footrests in 7 positions

The footplates adjust to 7 heights with a hex key. The footrests fold up or come off.

  • Removable anti-tip tube

To clear a threshold, the chair can be tipped back onto its support legs. The anti-tip tube comes off by pulling a clip.

  • Hygiene seat and bucket

The shower seat lifts off for cleaning. The bucket with lid slides in and out from the back of the chair.

Questions about the Miami

Can the user propel the Miami chair alone?

Yes, if the person has enough sitting ability and upper-body strength, which Rebotec sets as a condition. The 24 in (600 mm) rear wheels have push rims. On a slope, Rebotec requires a caregiver: go up forwards and down backwards. Brake both rear wheels before the person sits down or stands up.

Can the Miami go over a toilet?

Depending on its configuration, yes: Rebotec states the Miami can be pushed over a standard toilet. The clearance under the seat is 430 mm (16.9 in) high and 450 mm (17.7 in) wide. Where no toilet can be reached, a bucket with lid slides in under the hygiene opening.

Can the Miami be used in the shower?

Yes. Rebotec intends the Miami for showering seated and for toileting, indoors only. It is not for swimming pools or saunas, and the manufacturer asks that it be cleaned by hand, with a cleaner of pH 5 to 9 and without chlorine.

How much does the Miami chair cost?

The price depends on the configuration, the quantity and the accessories, such as the bucket. Request a quote and a representative replies within two business days.
