How the four models differ
On a wheelchair scale, the patient stays in the chair and rolls onto the platform, or onto two adjustable rails on the MX420. The models differ by platform size, ramps and how they move between rooms. On the MX490, a tare button subtracts the weight of the wheelchair.

What is the best weighing scale for people in wheelchairs?
It depends on the wheelchairs and on where you weigh. For bariatric wheelchairs, the MX490 has the deepest platform of the four, 32 × 41 in (81.3 × 104.1 cm). For visiting nurses, the MX420 folds in half and weighs 24 lb (10.9 kg). The MX450 and MX480 have a handrail and a single or dual ramp.
Are there portable or folding wheelchair scales?
Yes. The MX420 folds in half and runs on batteries, with its console in a carry case. The MX480 and MX490 fold to a 32 × 12 in (81.3 × 30.5 cm) footprint and roll on four hidden wheels. The MX450 tilts back and rolls on its wheels.
