What is a bariatric scale?
A scale with a higher weighing capacity, for patients of higher weight. The Befour MX310 and MX170 are rated for 1,000 lb (450 kg) and read to 0.1 lb (0.05 kg). The MX450, MX480 and MX490 wheelchair scales and the MX810 and MX910 height-and-weight stations also weigh up to 1,000 lb (450 kg).
What weight capacity do bariatric scales have?
Capacities vary by manufacturer and model. The two Befour bariatric scales we carry are rated for 1,000 lb (450 kg). Most of our other Befour adult scales are rated for 750 lb (340 kg).
Is there a bariatric scale with a handrail?
Yes. The MX310 has a wrap-around active handrail the patient can hold during weighing. The MX810 and MX910 stations also combine a wrap-around handrail with a 1,000 lb (450 kg) capacity, and add a height rod. The MX170 is a portable platform scale with a built-in carrying handle.
